Hello! Another week has gone by and here we are again. I was feeling a little extra on edge this morning and then my awesome sister-in-law sent me this…
Yup! This pretty much sums it up for me this morning, and if my hair were grey, I may have been a spitting image.
I have to admit, last week was a tough one. My family has been grieving after a local tragedy, an unexpected death of someone we knew. We have shed some tears, wondered why this had to happen, and overall felt very aware of what is most important. God and Family. If you follow me on instagram, you may have seen me post this last night..
Anyway, we are doing better now. I don’t know what you are going through, but it is safe to say that we are all going through something. I needed an extra dose of goodness today, so I will try to share that extra goodness here– on Marathon Momma Monday! I hope this helps you in some way.
I have been contemplating this quote a lot lately:
“We might all ask ourselves, do our children receive our best spiritual, intellectual, and creative efforts, or do they receive our leftover time and talents, after we have given our all to our[other] pursuits?”
-Tad R. Callister
Life can get so busy and harried and it’s more important than ever to constantly take inventory of where our priorities lie. I am always trying to reevaluate my life and my focus to make sure I don’t lose track of what matters most.
I love this blog, it has been so much fun to be involved in. I really do love health and fitness especially running, racing, fashion, health, nutrition etc… and I will continue to share all of the knowledge that I think might be useful and encouraging to you. But, please understand that fitness, fashion, and all that extra stuff is not my life. God and my family = life…and all the rest is just icing on the cake! I would give up all of the ‘extras’ tomorrow if I thought it was interfering with the welfare, happiness, and balance of my family and spiritual life. What I am hoping to portray to all women is that balance is the key.
Soooo, what?
I have a challenge for you today… c’mon play along, it will only take a second!
1. Write down all of your the roles that you play in life.
*Here’s what I put:
daughter of God
wife
mother
sister
daughter
daughter-in-law
sister-in-law
friend
aunt
cousin
niece
runner
blogger
fitness instructor
gospel teacher
cook
cleaner
writer
artist
2. Okay, now rate them in importance to you. Rank them between 1-10, 10 being the most important. Be honest with yourself.
3. Now, rank them again according to how you are living right now and what you are placing your highest priorities on.
The results might surprise you. You might be spending the majority of your time on some of your lowest priorities?
For a week, I challenge you to live your priorities. Reevaluate and try again.
We should begin by recognizing the reality that just because something is good is not a sufficient reason for doing it. The number of good things we can do far exceeds the time available to accomplish them. Some things are better than good, and these are the things that should command priority attention in our lives.
On a lighter note, look at this totally amazing shirt that I came across today?
Amen. I might just have to get this one!
You can get it HERE.
My little sweet girl is becoming quite the Barre instructor.
Then I walked into the room to find my youngest two “playing yoga”. My daughter was saying in a soothing calm voice, “This is downward dog.”
These sweet little people are always teaching me a thing or two.
Have a great week!
XOXO Laura
